CirculationMakeup
The harsh cold air slows blood circulation, meaning you start to look a little pale. You can stimulate your circulation by regularly brushing your skin with a natural bristle brush a few minutes before you take a shower.

Start with brushing the dry soles of your feet, making sure to use long, firm brush strokes upward to wards your heart. Brush over your buttocks and use a counter-clockwise motion on your abdomen. The last thing you should do is your arms, hands and palms, brushing with a gentle touch and then increasing the pressure as your skin becomes harder. Ensure you rinse your skin in the shower afterwards.

Emoillients are crucial for dry winter skin

Moisturising
Emoillients are crucial for dry winter skin. Use moisturising body washes as opposed to a bar of soap which can quickly dry out the skin. For sensitive skin coconut oil is the way forward. It is a natural antiseptic so it can thoroughly cleanse the skin, while acting as an effective moisturiser. For oily skin the best cleansers are botanical soapwort or Castile soap, which is a combo of olive oil and soda.

Lock in moisture with jojoba, sweet almond or Moroccan argan oil, making sure you do this before you go outside. Be careful with coconut oil and shea butter as it can block the pores and cause pimples and spots.

Hair
Coconut oil is the king again when it comes to hair. Apply a dollop of olive or cocnut oil to your hair, cover with a shower cap and a towel and leave for 15 minutes. Your body heat will cause the oil to condition the hair. Wash it away with a shampoo and, voila, luscious locks!

Keep your lips from becoming horribly chapped with a soothing lip balm containing lysine. Foods such as eggs, fish and lima beans also contain lysine, which creates supple skin and luscious lips. Try not to lick your lips as this can also lead to chapping in cold weather.

Sleep
Prevent dark circles, boost your immune system and banish eye bags by getting your eight hours in bed. Proper sleep can also speed up metabolism, meaning you won’t gain weight as easily. If you find yourself suffering from insomnia then try to prevent looking at bright screens such as your phone, TV or laptop and take supplemental melatonin or camomile tea.
